Antecedentes

Under the guidance and supervision of the Chief Security Adviser, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the CSA, DSS staffs and other UN officials and visitors. (S)he is required to display highest standards of discretion, integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and an awareness of prevailing security environment. The Driver also operates emergency communications system (VHF and HF radios), demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.

Deberes y responsabilidades

  • Provides reliable and secure driving services and prevent accident by defensive driving;
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle like, changing of oil, checking of tires pressure, brakes, washing etc;
  • Conducts timely repairs himself and arranges major repairs with qualified mechanics;
  • Assists the CSA and his team in monitoring the functions of other drivers of the team;
  • Maintains the availability of all the required documents of the vehicle: log book, trip ticket etc;
  • Keeps city/country maps available in the vehicle;
  • Monitors the upkeep of first-aid-kit, fire extinguishers and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;
  • Ensures cost-saving through proper use of vehicle;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the CSA or his team.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • High school or equivalent;
  • Valid Driver’s license.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience as a driver;
  • Experience with an NGO, Embassy or UN agency an asset;
  • Basic IT skills: Microsoft Office, attaching documents, receiving and sending emails;
  • Ability to write basic word documents;
  • Some knowledge of vehicle Mechanic.
  • Experience in hand-held VHF and vehicle HF radios;
  • Working knowledge of road networks in Sana’a in particular and Yemen in general.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic;
  • Working knowledge of English: basic conversation; writing and typing, for example, a report of incident.
