Antecedentes

Under the overall guidance of UNODC Regional Representative for West and Central Africa and the direct supervision of UNODC Head of Operations, the Finance Assistant will support the overall financial management of UNODC Portfolio.

Deberes y responsabilidades

Specifically, the incumbent will:

  • Assist in the preparation of payment requests (PRs) in relation to suppliers based upon complete documentation received ;
  • Enter the related transactions into UNDP ATLAS and ensure appropriate follow up to get them disbursed;
  • Carryout reconciliation and analysis of suppliers’ statements received as against UNODC records and bring up any discrepancy found to the attention of the Head of Operations and/or Finance & Admin Associate;
  • Prepare monthly suppliers ‘aging report and carryout analysis to determine those that are overdue and required adequate follow up;
  • Following up outstanding reconciliation issues with UNDP and provide timely update;
  • Assisting in the preparation of PRs related to sub-offices with no access to Field Office Management Ledger (FOML) and ensure the timely submission for certification accordingly;
  • Assist in the printing and submission for certification of all sub-offices’ PRs on a timely manner;
  • Ensure the maintenance of a good filing and archiving system for the purpose of achieving quick reference and up-to-date financial records;
  • Assist in the preparation of all financial reports required by donors;
  • Assist in the preparation of relevant budget in case request of Petty Cash Custodian pertaining to project activities; make appropriate follow up with UNODC Finance Section in  HQ to get timely approval and ensure that report submitted to the approval office accordingly;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned within the limit of the post.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:                       

  • A diploma in accounting, public administration or other relevant areas;
  • A university degree is desirable but not a must.

Work Experience:           

  • In addition to the above, three years of professional experience, preferably in an international organization, in the   
  • areas of accounting or financial administration;
  • Previous work experience in the UN system;
  • A good knowledge of UNDP ATLAS and UNODC ProFi systems are added advantages.

Languages:                                

  • For the post advertised, perfect command of French is required;
  • Good understanding of English is required as well.
