Antecedentes

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is an international development agency of the United Nations. The Agency currently operates in approximately 170 countries worldwide and relies on web based communications to share its work and success stories with the general public, governments and other UN and UNDP Offices both at the headquarters and country offices levels.

UNDP’s Country Office websites are the main showcase of the organization’s activities on the ground. As such, they are the most visible medium through which UNDP’s partners and stakeholders, including the general public, learn about the organization’s activities around the world. Thus, it is essential that Country Office websites remain up-to-date at all times, striking a careful balance between providing information about UNDP corporate and country-specific programmes and activities.

UNDP uses external communications to connect with the world outside our organization. Routine and strategically executed external communications educates and informs, advocates for human development and helps achieve progressive change. It ensures UNDP’s visibility among critical sources of support: UN Member States, government officials, donors, human development advocates, other international organizations and the private sector.

All writing produced for UNDP, including publications, web content, and other materials for UNDP stakeholders, should follow the UNDP Editorial Style Manual (will be provided). The Style Manual provides clear guidelines to ensure uniformity.  It is important not only for UNDP's written content to be consistent regarding brand identity but also in terms of style and language.

The UNDP Suriname Country Office is interested in soliciting the services of a communications intern to support the drafting of success stories, news articles, press releases, speeches and other content related to the upgrade of the Country Office Website.
