Antecedentes

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Resident Representative and the Programme Specialist – Environment, Extractive Industry and Energy and direct supervision of the Programme Analyst –Guyana REDD+ Investment Fund (GRIF), the GRIF ALT Project Associate ensures effective delivery of the CO programme by providing administrative, operational and financial support consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.
The GRIF ALT Project Associate works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ staff in UNDP and Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs (MoIPA) as required for resolving complex logistical, and finance-related issues and exchange of information.
 

Deberes y responsabilidades

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Support to calendar management of the GRIF ALT project;
  • Support to research and documentation of the GRIF ALT project;
  • Administrative support to the GRIF Programme Unit;
  • Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing.

Supports calendar management of the GRIF ALT project focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Calendar management of the Project Coordinator, requiring interaction with both internal and external executives, Toshaos, Village Councils and assistants, as well as partner organizations, to coordinate a variety of complex executive meetings, regular meetings, and village meetings;
  • Support to preparation of all required documents as requirements for Land Titling in accordance with the Amerindian Act 2006;
  • Organisation of calendar for all investigation visits, survey visits, consultations in Amerindian Villages.

Provides effective support to research and documentation of the GRIF ALT project focusing on the achievement of the  following results:

  • Recording and transcribing of all minutes of consultations and meetings;
  • Review and summarization of miscellaneous reports and documents;
  • Follow through on issues in a timely manner and recommend possible course of action by the Project Coordinator;
  • Prepare important reports and conduct research as required by the Project Coordinator.

Provides administrative support to the GRIF Programme  focusing on achievement of the   following results:

  • Provision of administrative support in the preparation of budgets and all reports;
  • Ensuring that the standard of preparation of project documents is in compliance with requisite UNDP safeguard and standards;
  • Coordination of materials or special projects for assigned technical staff or individual which may include preparing material/reports, distributing, editing, formatting and proofreading of materials;
  • Arranging travel schedule and reservations, accommodations for  ALT team as needed and preparation of all logistics in relation to such visits.

Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the GRIF Programme focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Organization of trainings for the operations/ projects staff and other stakeholders;
  • Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices;
  • Provision of inputs into periodic reports and monitoring of project implementation;
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:

  • Completed secondary school education with certification in Management, Accounting or Business Administration;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or related field would be an asset.

Experience:

  • At least 3  years of experience as a technical support in project management;
  • Work experience in budget preparation and drafting of reports;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English language;
  • Knowledge of one Amerindian language is desirable.
