Background

Information Technology AssistantUnder the administrative supervision of the UNODC Country Representative, and the technical supervision of the Team Leader, Global Field Office Support – ITS, the Information Technology Assistant will manage the Information Technology (IT) and communications support provided by ITS to this Field Office in a timely and accurate fashion, fully in line and consistent with UN rules, regulations and standards.
    

Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Provides first level troubleshooting and technical support to users regarding computer hardware, software, network maintenance and administration
  •  Undertakes planned regular maintenance of information technology equipment
  •  Monitors proper power and environmental conditions for office technology equipment.
  •  Monitors repairs and troubleshooting of data circuit, voice mail and fax links in co-ordination with service providers.
  •  Takes regular backups and ensures restoration procedures for the LAN.
  •  Plans and supervises installation and relocation of new computers, printers and LAN
  •  Assists the programme staff in preparing presentations and documents designing
  •  Maintain and updates the CONIG website
  •  Maintain inventory and proper function of other relevant communications equipment (phones, mobiles, radios,
  • meras, Security Surveillance equipment etc) and assists in procurement of computer consumable and spare parts
  •  Ensure the data protection via regular monitoring/updating of virus definitions, antivirus software
  •  Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

             Education:

            Degree/diploma in Computer Sciences. Certifications from renowned IT institutions will be an added value.

    Experience: 
     At least 3 years of experience in IT support and network management.
    Website management using CMS will be an added value.
    Experience in Lotus Notes and Novell Netware.
    Posses sound analytical and troubleshooting skills supplemented with excellent communications skills.
    Supervise the office’s e-filing system and ensure compliance with existing and new IT policies and standards.
    Proven Ability to work in a diverse team. 

    Language: 
     Fluency in any UN (preferably English) and national language of the duty station, knowledge of French a distinct asset.
