The United Nations Development Programme is the UN’s global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. Its mission is to be an agent for change to promote human development and to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). UNDP Indonesia is working in four priority areas: Democratic Governance, MDG Monitoring and Advocacy, Crisis Prevention and Recovery, and Environmental Sustainability.  UNDP is also committed to the fight against HIV/AIDS and the promotion of gender equality. 

To support its activities, UNDP utilizes ICT to leverage internal capacities on office effectiveness and efficiency.  Through this internship programme, it is expected that student with good education experience can be enhanced through practical work assignment; expose interns to an international environment; expose them to work of the Organization with the objective of deepening their knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles and activities. UNDP offices will also benefit from the assistance of qualified students specialized in ICT professional fields.

Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks

The purpose of this internship is to provide a suitably qualified student with the opportunity to work with UNDP Indonesia, specifically ICT unit. The intern will provide assistance on UNDP portal development, ICT helpdesk support, network/system Security.
 
The intern will work under the overall guidance and supervision of the head of ICT unit, responsible for following areas:

 

  • ICT Network and Helpdesk support.
  • Provide support to users on ICT related daily problem and network/system problem solving.

Intern’s tasks on ICT network and helpdesk:

 

 

  • Support ICT specialist on computer daily problem such as MS-Office, MS-Windows and Network connectivity;
  • Support on the establishment/enhancement of wireless connectivity;
  • Support a development of Network Documentation.

The main output based on above assignment will be:

 

 

  • Day-to-day ICT and Network problem are taken care;
  • Good wireless connectivity;
  •  Network documentation.

  • Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit,

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications are required:

 

 

  • Enrolled in a  bachelor degree programme at the time of application and during the internship   (if a candidate is graduating before the internship period begins, they are no longer eligible);
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP's Statement of Purpose  and to the ideals of the UN Charter; and
  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Should have sufficient skills on Networking system and computer problem solving;
  • Proficiency in English and normally at least one additional UNDP working language (i.e., French or Spanish). Fluency in Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese or Russian is an asset;

Financial Issues

 

 

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

     

  • The costs associated with the internship must be borne by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel, accommodation, health and life insurance, etc.
