Background

The Building Sector Energy Efficiency Project (BSEEP) has for its goal the reduction in the annual growth rate of GHG emissions from the Malaysia buildings sector. The project objective is the improvement of the energy utilization efficiency in Malaysian buildings, particularly those in the commercial and government sectors, by promoting the energy conserving design of new buildings and by improving the energy utilization efficiency in the operation of existing buildings. The realization of this objective will be facilitated through the removal of barriers to the uptake of building energy efficiency technologies, systems, and practices.

To build capacity and increase awareness of the building design consultants in Malaysia with building energy modelling software, BSEEP intends to enhance the skill and experience of local building practitioners in the design of energy efficiency with building energy modelling software.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work:

The primary jobscope is to develop training materials, documents and presentations for an OpenStudio (building energy modeling software made available by National Renewable Energy Laboratory) technical training workshop.

The consultant will be required to:

Develop and formulate the OpenStudio training material: Prepare and formulate the necessary OpenStudio training material to educate a group of practising engineers in the building sector through a workshop with the following learning objectives:
  • Impart to participants the OpenStudio modeling ecosystem to effectively model the energy and lighting performance and consumption for new and existing buildings;
  • Impart to participants  how to carefully carry out OS model configurations to allow for rapid alterations and manipulations;
  • Impart to participants  how to use the power of OpenStudio features to easily evaluate changes to your building model;
  • Impart to participants  how to configure the Parametric Analysis Tool (PAT) for conducting modeling studies;
  • Impart to participants  how to effectively extract and interpret results from PAT modeling studies.
Dissemination of the openstudio training material: Lead, coordinate and present the OpenStudio training materials through one (1) workshop in Kuala Lumpur. It is expected that live demonstrations on a computer with the software running be carried out to allow real time learning experience with the software.
