Background

As a result of the structural adaptation strategy implemented by UNDP, a large number of UNDP staff members are being relocated to Bangkok, Thailand from New York, USA and elsewhere locations. Considering the large number of staff members being reassigned/recruited to Bangkok, UNDP is intending to relocate its offices [together with UNDP Thailand Country Office, UNCDF Asia-Pacific Regional Office] and also to accommodate the new Regional Office of UN Volunteers as well as UN Office of South-South Cooperation.

Thus, the UNDP Regional Center in Bangkok intends to procure the services of an individual contractor [Office Space Planning Consultant] to provide support for designing office layout and associated plans, provide inputs to procurement of fitting-out Vendor develop. The selected consultant shall work under the supervision of the task manager, appointed to lead the office of relocation project.

Duties and Responsibilities

The specific tasks of the selected consultant shall include the following, but not limited to:

  • Conduct a physical survey of the building prior to draw design and layout plan on paper;
  • Develop layout planning, design along with detail and graphics within the time deadlines. These designs should include space planning, floor plans, color and material schemes, and furniture layout for Office spaces; conference rooms; and other common areas;
  • Coordinate with UNDP ICT Team on planning of IT-infrastructure, networks; telecommunications, LAN/WAN, Telephony and Audio Visual/Video Conferencing;
  • Provide inputs in the preparation of specifications for solicitation and contracts as well as in bid evaluation;
  • Manage fitting-out Contractor with the UNDP Task Manager and Procurement Staff; and
  • Keep track the established project plan and corresponding milestones,

Contract will be based on daily fee.

The financial proposal should specify the daily fee, travel expenses, insurance and living allowances quoted in separate line items, and payments are made to the Individual Consultant based on the number of days worked payable against a set of assigned outputs.

Travel

All envisaged travel costs must be included in the financial proposal. This includes all travel to Bangkok, Thailand and return to place of domicile in most direct and economy class. Any unforeseen travel during the period of Consultancy shall be reimbursed to the Consultant [most direct/economy class] including applicable living allowance.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Architecture and/or Planning.

Years of experience:

  • Minimum three years of experience in related areas; and
  • Experience in contractor management would be an advantage.

Language:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
