Background

UNIFEM is the women’s fund at the United Nations, it provides financial and technical assistance to innovative approaches aimed at fostering women’s empowerment and gender equality.
The UNIFEM Program Office has been set up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to initiate various projects and program in close collaboration with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, on Gender Issues.
UNIFEM Bangladesh has been implementing  the regional programme on Empowering Women Migrant Workers in Asia since 2006. The regional programme takes a gender and rights based development approach to addressing the concerns of women migrant workers and ensuring the recognition to their rights . UNIFEM has run the programme in partnership with various stakeholders throughout the period which included both the government and non-government partners.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the UNIFEM National Program Manager, Dhaka, the incumbent will work in providing programmatic services ensuring high quality, accuracy and consistency of work.

Duties and Responsibilities

·          Coordinate and assist in smooth functioning of the migration programme
o         Preparing ToRs for partnership
o         Coordinating/liaising with partners
o         Preparing notes, briefings, presentations etc
o         Organizing follow-up, monitoring/tracking progress of partners of UNIFEM on all ongoing activities
o         Collecting and maintaining information related to NGOs, networks, orientation training centres, skill training centres, media, recruiting agencies etc
·          Assist the Programme Manager on all programme and administrative issues by providing necessary inputs into the programme and its management
·          Keep track of the programme budget and prepare the periodic review of the programme
·          Establish mechanisms for all reporting to the donors as well as to the regional mechanisms
·          Liaise with partners and stakeholders on behalf of UNIFEM as and when necessary
Perform any other activities/tasks as and when necessary

Required Skills and Experience

Education: Masters  degree in Gender Studies, Law , or any Social Science disciple.   
 
 
Experience:
·          4 to 5 years of relevant experience with national or international organization is required.
·          Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.
Languages:
 
·          Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.   Good knowledge of Bangla or any other South Asian language will be desirable.
