Background

The UNDP has launched a project in which climate change capacity will be enhanced and stakeholder awareness broadened in up to 20 developing countries. In support of this goal, several key documents are being prepared on thematic issues relating to international climate negotiations. These documents will be disseminated to participating countries and also published for the 14th Conference of the Parties (COP) being held in Poland in December 2008. The COP publication will be in all UN languages.

Duties and Responsibilities

The designer will:
1. Design and lay-out seven documents in Russian as stand-alone documents, using the English-language template for guidance.
The documents are currently in Microsoft Word format. The designed documents should have a consistent overall design, in two colors (with the exception of figures). The designer will:
  • Recreate tables, as required.
  • Recreate figures, where high-resolution originals cannot be obtained.
  • Provide PDF versions to UNDP for proofing, according to the deadlines provided.
  • Incorporate any proofing edits.
  • Provide camera-ready final PDF and Adobe InDesign versions to UNDP.
2. Compile the seven stand-alone documents into one publication, using the English-language template for guidance.
Timeline

The designed English language documents will be finalised by September 30. The Russian translations of the documents will be completed on the same timeline. Completed documents will be immediately submitted to the designer for layout. Ideally, the documents should be turned around by the designer within one week of receipt. The seven stand-alone thematic documents should be received by UNDP by 20 October for review. The compiled publication should be received by 24 October.
