Under the overall guidance of Finance Analyst (Manager), the incumbent of the post will temporarily assist the Financial Resource Management Units in completing the tasks related to year end closing and the Travel and Expenses payment module. S/he will provide services in several finance services ensuring the effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and integrity of financial services. The incumbent will promote gender sensitive and a client oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

This junior clerk works in close collaboration with the Management Support and Business Development, Programme and Operations teams in the CO ain resolving complex programme and operations – related issues.

Devoirs et responsabilités

1. Support the finance team during year end activities focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Effective support in area of Finance and Accounting
  • Timely and accurate review of the payment vouchers and its supporting document and ensure the full compliance with UN/UNDP rules, regulations and policies of financial activities, financial recording/reporting system;
  • Timely follow up on Charge of account detail on deposit and timely recording in web based system Atlas. Ensure timely cleaning up balance sheets accounts
  • Effetive support for year-end certifications and balance sheet reconciliations

2. Provides administrative support to the FMRU focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Support the focal point for year end financial preparation and provision of general office assistance such as response to simple information requests and inquiries; reviews, logs and routes incoming correspondence; ensuring filling system and maintenance files/records in connection with year end activities; organization of meetings, routine administrative tasks

3. Supports knowledge building and knowledge sharing focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Participation in the trainings for the operations/ projects staff related with year end activities
  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice
  • Ensure active participation in learning and knowledge sharing in connection with gender mainstreaming

4. The incumbent of the position should avoid any kind of discriminatory behavior including gender discrimination and ensure that

  • Human rights and gender equality is prioritized as an ethical principle within all actions;
  • Activities are designed and implemented in accordance with “Social and Environmental Standards of UNDP”;
  • Any kind of diversities based on ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, class, gender are respected within all implementations including data production;

Qualifications et expériences requises

Academic Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, accounting or any other related area

Experience:

  • No experience is required , however 3 months of progressively responsible administrative, programme or accounting/finance experience would be preferable

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team with a positive attitude
  • Solid computer skills required, Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Words, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages

Language:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is an absolute necessity

Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in handling of web based accounting system applications.
  • Familiar with UN financial system, ATLAS, IPSAS and UN finance policy and procedure are preferable
