INTERNSHIP OFFICE BACKGROUND:
YouthConnekt Africa recognizes that youth are an exceedingly important demographic within the continent and aims to improve life outcomes for youth today and for future generations through 5 key goals. YouthConnekt Africa has the mandate of job creation, personal and professional skill development, nurturing young leaders, connecting young Africans, and closing the gender gap. The purpose of this position is to improve performance, results, and impact of management and projects. The associate will evaluate the time, impact, and cost effectiveness of projects, and ensure that they are in accordance with the strategic visions of YouthConnekt Africa. The associate will also conduct research to inform his/her M&E frameworks and produce consistent reports in order to track the progress of programs and/or projects. The roles and responsibilities of the associate are detailed further below.

| Under the supervision of the YouthConnekt Africa Executive Director, the intern will:
-Develop and implement logical frameworks to monitor and evaluate projects/programs -Organize and conduct training to colleagues in monitoring and evaluation frameworks in order to build team capacity and maximize project effectiveness
-Develop reports regularly to update management and partners on progress of projects -Edit, publish, and/or present reports upon request -Prepare and maintain a comprehensive database to track progress and results Expected Deliverables

Required Skills and Experience
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; or currently enrolled in a master’s degree in a Master’s degree in International Development, Global Affairs, Economics, or an otherwise relevant field of study
- Or have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a master’s degree or equivalent studies.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation projects
- Proven experience with report-writing and conducting workshops and/or presentations ‘
- Excellent command with MS Office software, data collection, and data analysis
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity and commitment to the mission of YouthConnekt Africa
- Adaptability and creativity to provide insight and suggestions for better practices
- Leadership and strong inter-personal skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong ethics which enable one to work with sensitive information and high-level partners
Language skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
- Kinyarwanda and French an asset
- Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
- UNDP interns received a stipend monthly inline with UNDP internship policy guidelines.
- UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship.
- Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
- Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship.
- Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan.
- Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- Interns are expected to work full time, but flexibility is allowed for education program.
- Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
