Antecedentes
This position will be designated from UNDP to support the work of Strategic Partnerships and Development Finance in the Office of the Resident Coordinator (RCO). The position will assist in the provision of technical support towards the coordination of and implementation of the Partnerships Strategy. In supporting the Partnerships Officer, the candidate will also provide substantive support for strategic planning for and coordination of UN Country Team (UNCT) partnerships strategy as well as the Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation Group. With the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at its core, the UN Secretary General’s report “Repositioning the United Nations development system to deliver on the 2030 Agenda: our promise for dignity, prosperity and peace on a healthy planet” puts forward a comprehensive proposal on further improvements to the resident coordinator system to ensure more coherent, accountable and effective support for the 2030 Agenda. The candidate will also work in close collaboration with the United Nations Agencies and attend regular meetings and retreats related to the support provided to Partnerships and Development Finance.
Deberes y responsabilidades
- Support the design and implementation of the SDG Platforms
- Support the projects / or activities to be carried out by the Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation Group
- Assist in identifying the main areas of partnerships support to UNCT, Results Groups and Thematic Groups
- Support the design of presentations and publications to be shared with partners
- Identify global best practices that could benefit South Africa’s leveraging multi-stakeholder partners
- Create a repository of partnership engagement, lessons learned, success stories and gaps to improve leveraging of strategic partnerships
- Contribute to efforts to establish partnerships to support implementation of all UN activities (private sector, Foundations and Trusts, civil society, research / academia / think-tanks)

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas
Education:
- Masters in Media and Communications, OR Journalism, OR Development Studies , OR Social Sciences with no experience or Post Graduate equivalent with at least 1-year relevant experience.
Language
- Working knowledge of the English language along with writing and communication skills.
Required skills
- Experience in communiting with external partners hihly disirable
- Some experience in providing strategic support to creating and developing partnership strategies, project/programme management, resource mobilization or development finance in the context of development cooperation or related area.
- Experience in the private sector partnerships would be an added advnatange
- Good organizational skills and analytical skills
- Godd communication and drafting skills for effective reporting
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility
- Knowledge of the institutions of the UN system is an asset
