Background

UNDP internship programme offers an outstanding graduate-level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP's work with the objective of deepening his/her knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles, and activities. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various professional areas.

UNDP activities are based on the premise of embracing diversity and inclusion. This premise is fundamental for the professional enrichment of young people in general, as well as for the UNDP work environment itself. In line with the Agenda 2030 and its pledge of “leaving no one behind”, this internship program aims to provide training and an immersive professional experience for underrepresented people in the United Nation system, such as young women, people with disabilities, people from underprivileged backgrounds, such as low-income families, LGBTI people, people living with HIV, among other groups.

UNDP is committed to promoting diversity in its workforce, in terms of gender, race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality and culture. All information presented in the applications will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

In Angola, UNDP plays the Principal Recipient role for the Global Fund (GF) NMF3 Grant. In addition, and as part of the Government counterpart financing, UNDP manages the Government funding for HIV health products, as a complement to the GF funding, over the same period. The UNDP Angola GF Project Management Unit (PMU) carries out the Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) function for both sources of funding, based on the Annual HIV, TB, Malaria and Covid Quantification Reports and Plans to support Benguela and Cuanza Sul. The PMU also conducts non-health procurement activities for goods and services required for the implementation of the GF grant.

The PMU’s PSM portfolio will carry out large GF and Government-funded health procurement processes. At the same time, the PMU will submit its Year 1 PUDR and support INLS during the audit of GF grants to Angola by the GF Office of the Inspector General. Within such a context, additional support needs in relation to its PSM function have been identified by the PMU’s Management.
