Historique
In response to the request by the Government of Ethiopia and with the view to support the reforms and 6th general elections, the United Nations has performed a Needs Assessment Mission (NAM), which confirmed that conditions were favourable for the United Nations to design and activate an elections programme/project of support. UNDP supported the development of the ‘Supporting Elections for Ethiopia’s Democratic Strengthening (SEEDS)’, which was launched in June 2019. The project provided the legal, planning and operational support for the 6th general elections. The project has an end date of 28 February 2022 and requires services of a finance officer.
The Finance Officer will report to the Project Manager of SEEDS.
Devoirs et responsabilités
- Ensures smooth financial operation of Project’s activities and follows up on all financial transactions; caries out day-to-day financial transactions;
- Provide support to prepare annual and quarterly work plans and budgets as well as special report as required for financial planning in consultation with the Project Manager;
- Prepares detailed cost estimates and participates in budget preparation, analysis and projections;
- Data Entry into Atlas/any accounting software in light of ProDoc/Annual Work Plans (AWPs), monitoring of their status, preparation of required budget revisions, determination of unutilized funds, operational and financial closure of project(s);
- Design CoA of the project to meet govt and donor reporting requirements, align financial data with M& E tools & techniques;
- Full compliance with UNDP POPP /NIM (National implementation modality)/ DIM (Direct Implementation Modality) manual, rules and regulations of financial processes, financial records and reports and proper planning, supporting follow up of audit; implementation of the effective internal control framework;
- Assist in tracking the project expenditure as well as of different contract holders.

Qualifications et expériences requises
Min. Education requirements:
- University Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related discipline
Min. years of relevant work experience:
- University Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related discipline
Required skills:
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems
Desired skills:
- Experience in accounting information systems, auditing and exposure to accounting software and ICT is desired
- Working experience with UNDP/any UN Agency is an asset.
Required Language:
- English, both oral and written
