Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Operations Analyst and the ICT Focal Point, the ICT Intern provides ICT services and administrative support to the UNDP Belize ICT Unit.

The ICT Intern promotes a customer-oriented approach. The ICT Intern works closely with the ICT Focal Point, Programme and Operations teams of UNDP Belize country office to resolve routine and complex ICT-related issues. The Intern will support the UN House for all ICT related needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work

  • Implementation of ICT systems and strategies
  • Efficient operation of CO hardware and software packages
  • Support for network administration 
  • Provision of administrative support
  • Facilitating knowledge creation and knowledge sharing

Expected Results

  1. Supports the implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, focusing on achieving the following results:
  • Compliance with corporate technology and information management standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Provision of inputs for the preparation of results-oriented work plans.

       2. Ensures the effective operation of field office hardware and software packages, focusing on achieving the following results:

  • Performing specific technical functions, including replacing of hardware and electronic components (disks, memories, network cabling, power supplies, etc.) and routine repairs.
  • Assistance in installing corporate and commercial software and related updates.
  • Assistance with deployment and assignment of computer equipment to staff.
  • Configuration and assignment of door access cards.
  • Support to users in the configuration of OneDrive for personal backup and working files.

       3. Supports network management, focusing on achieving the following results:

  • Assistance in troubleshooting and tracking network issues.
  • Assistance in backup and restore procedures. Backup log maintenance. Assistance in organizing off-site storage of backups.

       4. Provides administrative support, focusing on achieving the following results:

  • Tagging and maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware.
  • Maintenance of a library of ICT-related reference materials.
  • Maintenance of inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit.
  • Provision of ICT support to key events.

       5. Ensures the creation and exchange of knowledge in the office, focusing on achieving the following results:

  • Participation and assistance in the organization of the training of office staff on ICT issues.
  • Strong contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Assistance with uploading of articles for Country Office website.

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum academic education - Associates Degree in IT, and enrolled at the University

Minimum relevant work experience - At least 1 year network administration, Windows server environment, support for hardware and software, telecommunications facilities, knowledge of Windows-based packages/applications, user support
