Background

Reporting to Monitoring and Reporting Specialist, the Programme Consultant works with and provides support to the Strategic Support Unit in providing a variety of Program, Operational and Administrative support. He/ she will play a crucial role in supporting country offices and other inter- agency initiatives of UN Women. The Programme Consultant, under the Strategic Support Unit, works in close collaboration with the operations and programme teams.

Programme Management Support
- Provide programme and administrative support to the programme team in the preparation of various programme documents, such as work plans, budgets, reports and proposals on programme implementation arrangements.
- Assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations as required.
- Assist the Strategic Support Unit in reviewing and preparing documentation on the procurement of goods and services, and support contract tracking.
- Provide guidance to the regional and country offices on project management, tracking use of financial resources and reporting.
- Maintain and operate the ESARO database and provide analysis to guide quarterly reviews.
- Participate in implementation reviews and planning workshops and assist in preparing relevant output reports.
- Make travel arrangements for the Strategic Support Unit, including preparation of travel requisitions and claims.
Financial Management Support
- Use Quantum to prepare required budget revisions, revision of project award and project status, determination of unutilized funds, operational and financial closure of projects.
- Create requisitions in Quantum for receipt of goods and services, including making budget check for requisitions, POs and vouchers.
Supports knowledge building and knowledge sharing
- Provide support and participate in the knowledge management seminars/workshops.
- Contribution to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timely and accurate support to events, workshops, and missions;
- Full compliance of administrative activities with UN Women rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
- Timely preparation of minutes;
- Timely and accurate tracking of data for RO management and donor purposes;

Required Skills and Experience
Education and certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Management, Public Administration.
Experience
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, programme management support.
- Work experience in administrative support of development programmes or projects.
- Experience in working in a computer environment using multiple office software packages.
- Have basic quantitative skills.
- Work experience within the UN system is an asset.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required;
- Working knowledge of French is an added value;
- Working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
