Stipend - Since 1 January 2020 UNDP interns are provided a monthly stipend to cover costs associated to the internship. The stipend amount varies from duty station to duty station. The amount can also vary depending if a selected candidate receives financial support from a nominating institution, related institution or government. This stipend is an equivalent of $1000 per month (exact amount to be confirmed).

Overview:

Under the supervision of either the Chief of Recruitment & Succession Planning (NYHQ), Chief, Talent Acquisition and People Programmes (Copenhagen) OHR is sourcing 2 interns to support the implementation of People for 2030’s Recruitment Strategy to broaden the outreach efforts to attract a diverse and qualified candidate pool. Part of the objective of the People for 2030 Recruitment Strategy are: encouraging the engagement of highly qualified, motivated candidates from across the world to join UNDP and improving the speed and quality of recruitment.   

In order to realize these aims, the People for 2030 Recruitment Strategy is focused on the following deliverables:

  • Designing and executing promotional events on different social media channels to attract potential candidates, with unique skillsets, to the organization.
  • Mapping networks, academic institutions, and organizations related to UNDP’s mandate areas.
  • Managing the social media content, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn posts, writing blogs.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to leverage our Linked-In presence.
  • Increased use of multimedia including videos, webinars and podcasts.
  • Provide channel-specific ideas for the use of social media messages, videos or photo content  

These roles are for students who primarily wish to demonstrate their ability to implement a creative and innovative recruitment outreach strategy to attract candidates to join one of the largest UN entities, UNDP.

Ideally, the internship would be full-time for 6 months – with flexibility if the candidate is still in school.  The internship requires creativity, enthusiasm to learn, and the ability to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality of output working under pressure.

Upon completion of the assignment, and depending on its duration, the Intern will gain the following knowledge assets:

  • Increased understanding of how large, international organizations use communications, and social media in particular, to build their brand & attract talent
  • Understanding of UNDP mandate and policies
  • Familiarity with communication principles and messaging   
  • Ability to communicate message using inclusive language
  • Ability to write and formulate channel-specific social media content
  • Understanding of basic project management principles 
  • Ability to participate in a creative and collaborative content-production process   

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The internship will support the management of the Recruitment & Outreach aspect of People for 2030 Recruitment Strategy and be organized around these main activities:

  • Contribute to development of search function within OHR
  • Mapping of networks and outreach options related to our mandate area,
  • Active search for candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter Seat”
  • Engage with potential candidates interested in working with UNDP

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Preferred educational background in Social Media Communication and/ or Human Resources, Recruitment & Outreach or related areas
  • Student enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in recruitment and outreach communications in a private/ public sector setting,
  • Demonstrated experience of thinking outside of the box in communication and outreach campaigns on social media
  • HR, Recruitment & Outreach experience is an asset.
  • Experience with the creation of Instagram Stories, Reels and Live video in a professional or personal context is an advantage

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Working knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset
