Antecedentes
Gender equality remains a key priority of the United Nations and is at the heart of its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Gender Equality and Leaving No One Behind are central to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its various initiatives, UNDP focusses on systems, root causes and connections between challenges to build solutions that respond to people’s daily realities, including the varying needs of women and men in their diversities. Gender equality is a key strategic priority outlined in the Strategic Plan of UNDP for 2025 with Gender Equality outlined as one of the 6 signature solutions for catalyzing change. Gender Equality is one of the 6 signature solutions advocated for fostering 3 critical directions of Change: Structural Transformation; Leaving No One Behind and Building Resilience.
UNDP's Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025, aligned with its Strategic Plan, guides UNDP in its efforts to assist countries in accelerating progress on gender equality and the empowerment of women over the next four years.
Mainstreaming gender within the Country programme portfolio of UNDP is a key requirement that necessitates application of corporate tools of UNDP and reporting of gender-based results. In addition, the CO is in the process of developing a gender strategy in line with the UNDP Corporate Gender Strategy and ensuring its implementation by working with different portfolios and teams.
The Country Office is also implementing the Gender Seal which is part of UNDP’s global brand that acts as a guarantee of UNDP’s commitment, expertise and effectiveness in protecting and advancing women's rights and gender equality. It is UNDP’s flagship initiative to build capacities and support transformational gender equality results within Country Offices.
The Intern will support processes for gender mainstreaming and Gender Seal, currently being implemented, by working closely with the Gender Focal Team Leader, the Gender Focal Team (GFT), and the Gender Focal Point (GFP) of UNDP Turkmenistan.
