Background |
||
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Generation Equality is the world’s leading effort to unlock political will and accelerate investment and implementation on gender equality. It recognizes that a bold, whole of society approach is needed to disrupt entrenched and rising global gender inequality, underscored by intensified ambition, investment and accountability. The initiative brings together organizations from every part of society to catalyze progress, advocate for change and take bold actions together. A Coordination Hub has been established in the Office of the Executive Director to foster, promote and enable a whole-of-organization approach to UN Women’s role as convenor of Generation Equality in line with the Phase II Project Document. The Hub coordinates the timely and quality delivery of project results through effective and efficient management and oversight of the project: systematic planning, internal coordination, resource management, operations support and internal communication. It liaises with UN Women’s leadership, senior management and Regional and Country Offices, and promotes a coordinated approach to stakeholder engagement. Under the overall guidance of the Director of the Coordination Hub and reporting to the Project Management Specialist, the Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist Consultant support the implementation of the Generation Equality stakeholder engagement and communications priorities in line with the Generation Equality Phase II Project Document.
