Background

CORPORATE BACKGROUND:

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the overarching areas of development from eradication of poverty, the reduction of inequalities and exclusion, disaster risk reduction and climate change. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

We support countries' efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, which will guide global development priorities through 2030. The key 2030 Agenda principle of leaving no one behind and stamping out inequality is at the core of everything we do.

In our efforts for democratic and governance peacebuilding, we strive to connect peace and development by actively collaborating with various stakeholders, including national and local government entities, as well as civil society actors. Through this approach, we encourage socio-economic inclusion and foster tolerance and diversity. Central to our strategy is a robust commitment to promoting good governance. This commitment includes empowering citizens to actively participate in national policymaking, facilitating peaceful conflict resolution, advocating for the rule of law, enhancing transparency and responsiveness of public services, and safeguarding citizen security and human rights. These elements serve as catalysts for nurturing social cohesion and are critical prerequisites for achieving sustainable development.
