Competencies

1. COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated track record in policy development processes associated with climate change.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize research and evidence (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Experience in research methods for data collection and processing and the ability to translate findings into policy-oriented reports.
  • Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals and the ability to apply them to strategic and/or practical situations
  • Understanding of volunteerism and its contributions to SDGs
  • Ability to deliver results under the indicated timelines 
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Punctuality on deliverables.
  • Capacity to work under pressure, manage stress and adapt to rapidly evolving situations.

 

 

Required Skills and Experience

1. Education

  • Master’s degree in environmental sciences, Development Economics, Energy, Public Finance, Environmental Law, or other closely related field

2. Experiance

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience on research and policy formulation in environment, climate change, and social development or closely related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in research, data analysis and report writing to a high standard.
  • Previous experience to integrate climate change concerns into development planning and policy processes at the national, sub-national and/or sectoral levels.
  • Knowledge of volunteerism for peace and development is an asset.

3. Languages

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
