Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

In line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, General Assembly resolution 72/279 on the repositioning of the United Nations Development System, and the evaluation of UN Women’s Regional Architecture in 2017, UN Women has been reviewing its current organizational structure to further solidify its operating and implementation model in order to break silos and improve the delivery of our mandate in an integrated manner.


The Strategy, Planning, Resources and Effectiveness Division (SPRED) of UN Women was established in late 2019 as a part of the change management process in UN Women HQ. The division is to integrate corporate strategy, resources and performance measurement to improve decision-making in order to manage for results while increasing transparency and accountability to its Governing Bodies and Stakeholders. Specifically, the Division will formulate corporate strategies aligned to the corporate objectives, ensure internal controls and risk management are fully in place, and that resources from all sources to budget plans and the organization priorities.

 

Under the supervision of Business Transformation Management Specialist, the intern will be providing technical support to strengthening the utilization of the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system Quantum, working close with colleagues across UN Women. The intern is comfortable working with data and data sources, and will help validate, create, strengthen business logics that will lead to an increased ability to leverage increasingly more data from the ERP System; in support of Organizational Effectiveness and Efficiency efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting Business Transformation in leveraging ERP data
  • Assist and support Business Transformation in identifying and cataloging all currently available sources of information and existing reports/queries in Quantum ERP system
  • Assist and support Business Transformation in testing new reports, that are developed in Quantum ERP system
  • Assist and support Business Transformation in the development of revised Data Dictionary
  • Supporting Business Transformation in improving automation efforts, on specific data
  • Supporting Business Transformation in strengthening business logics in systems

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: Development related disciplines, statistics, economics, information system, computer science, ICT, or public policy or other social science fields.
  • or other relevant subjects is required.
  • Meet one of the following:

 

  1. Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  3. Be enrolled in a mandatory national service programme of which the internship may form a part;
  4. Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within two-years of graduation.

 

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

 

Renumeration:

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
