Historique
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UN volunteers, throughout the world. UNV embraces volunteerism as universal and inclusive, and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity as well as the values that sustain it: free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity.
UNV has its headquarters in Bonn, Germany; six regional offices in Amman, Bangkok, Dakar, Istanbul, Nairobi and Panama City; 58 Field Units (embedded in UNDP Country Offices); as well as an office in New York and a liaison office in Tokyo. As of September 2023, UNV has a total of 279 staff members; 125 of UNV staff (45%) are based in Bonn and 154 (55%) in other duty stations.
This internship is located in UNV HQ’s Executive Office (ExO), which provides vision, innovation, and organizational leadership, and strategically directs and manages UNV. The ExO defines UNV´s long-term goal and immediate objectives, taking into account UN General Assembly resolutions and UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board decisions. The ExO leads the organization's development, articulation and implementation of the substantive, financial and operational aspects of the UNV programme, e.g. strategies, policies and guidelines.
The Results-Based Management (RBM) team within the ExO is responsible for providing specialized technical support, advice and guidance on evidence-based monitoring and planning, and results-based management. The team contributes to the strategic planning process through qualitative and quantitative data analysis and integration for the purposes of global/regional programming, planning, monitoring, and reporting. The team supports the Regional Offices and Field Units in establishing monitoring practices to support high quality, evidence-based and results-oriented services.
