Background

The primary objective of this role is to strategically communicate the outcomes and impact of the project. The communication specialist will focus on producing highly impactful and result-based communication materials targeted at various stakeholders, ensuring that the achievements and impact of the initiative are effectively disseminated, raising awareness, and supporting the project's objectives and activities. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Fieldwork and Data Collection:

  • Conduct fieldwork in the 4 countries to gather information, conduct interviews, and obtain footage for communication materials, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project impact and outcomes.

Production of results-based communication products:

  • Generate impactful communication materials tailored to various stakeholders.
  • Produce knowledge products, reports, human interest stories, and videos that highlight tangible project outcomes and achievements.
  • Support development of communication strategies for project key events to ensure effective communication of project strategies and results.

Deliverables

This contract is for 50 days including fieldwork to 4 countries ( 5-day missions to the each country) to gather information, conduct interviews, obtain footing for the video, etc.

Required Skills and Experience

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree in economics, development studies, gender, or public policy;
  • Certificates in communications/evaluation/knowledge management is an asset

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in products, knowledge products, project proposals in the field of economic development, women’s economic empowerment, women entrepreneurship or any other related fields;
  • Strong writing skills and ability to write impactful, results-based accounts of development projects;
  • Ability to combine quantitative and qualitative sources of information to communicate results impactfully
  • Experience in results based programme management and evaluation is an asset;

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and/or French is required.

How to Apply 

The consultancy will take place between April and December 2024 over a maximum of 50 days. In accordance with the "Timeline: Key Deliverables and Payment Schedule" specified above, all payments will be released to the Consultant following review of the deliverables/work submitted to UN Women WCARO.
