Background

The joint EC-UNDP-UNICEF project ‘Preventing, Fighting and Addressing the Social Consequences of Trafficking in Human Beings in the Republic of Belarus’ was launched in June, 2009. The project is aimed at enhancing national capacities in fighting trafficking in human beings through preventive measures and better protection and rehabilitation of victims of trafficking in human beings. One of the major project activities in the area of preventing trafficking in human beings is delivering trainings of different type and complexity on issues of preventing trafficking in human beings, rendering social assistance and rehabilitation services to victims of trafficking in human beings, minimizing its root-causes, and promoting gender equality in educational and preventive activities. Special attention is paid by the project to the problem of trafficking in children, preventing and minimizing its social consequences, rendering social and psychological assistance to children-victims of human trafficking.
 
In accordance with the project document the trainings are delivered to representatives of governmental and non-governmental agencies of the Republic of Belarus, involved in preventing, fighting and addressing the social consequences of trafficking in human beings, including specialists of law-enforcement agencies, centres of social assistance and employment, educational system, other interested. The trainings are aimed at promoting professional development and enhancing professional skills and competences of specialists in the area of preventing trafficking in human beings and minimizing its social consequences to be implemented on practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

In close coordination with and under the supervision of the Project Manager an international trainer on preventing trafficking in human beings and minimizing its social consequences delivers trainings/seminars on different aspects of preventing trafficking in human beings, minimizing root-causes and social consequences of trafficking in human beings, social work and rendering social and psychological assistance to its victims, aimed at different target audiences, including the following duties:
  • developing a draft program of a training/seminar on different aspects of preventing trafficking in human beings, minimizing root-causes and social consequences of trafficking in human beings, social work and rendering social and psychological assistance to its victims aimed at relevant target audience in accordance with the international trainer’s area of professional expertise;
  • approving the draft agenda of a training/seminar with the Project Manager, revising or updating it as needed in accordance with the Project Document;
  • developing hand-out and information materials to be disseminated among training/seminar participants for ensuring a training/seminar effectiveness. Handout materials are to be submitted for the Project Manager for approval and further printing by the project;
  • preparing and delivering thorough presentations within the international trainer’s area of professional expertise for participants of trainings/seminars on an agreed topic of a training/seminar aimed at providing trainings/seminars participants with objective information on different aspects of the human trafficking problem and developing their professional skills and competences necessary for effectively implementing preventive activities with regard to best international practices in the area;
  • delivering trainings/seminars, including interactive work with trainings/seminars participants, consulting participants on different issues/questions raised within the training/seminar with regard to best international practices in the area;
  • preparing and submitting to the Project Manager written reports on delivered events including lists of participants, evaluation of an event effectiveness, recommendations on further improving trainings/seminars with regards to comments of trainings/seminars participants;
  • developing information materials to be included in project publications in accordance with the project document based on requests and a schedule of work agreed by the Project Manager and UNDP programme officer;
  • delivering presentations at awareness-raising events of the project, round-tables and conferences on different aspects of preventing trafficking in human beings, minimizing root-causes and social consequences of trafficking in human beings, social work and rendering social and psychological assistance to its victims audience in accordance with the international trainer’s area of professional expertise.
Special Terms
  • Trainer delivers agreed trainings, participates in awareness-raising events of the project, round-tables and conferences as agreed with the Project Manager and the UNDP Programme officer in Minsk, Belarus;
  • Written information materials are developed upon request and in accordance with agreed schedule of work approved by the Project Manager and the UNDP Programme officer.

Competencies

  • Experience of delivering interactive trainings to different target audiences is an asset;
  • Experience of delivering trainings in the framework of international projects/initiatives or for international agencies is an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent computer literacy;
  • Outstanding time-management, organizational and inter-personal skills.

Required Skills and Experience

  1. University degree in the area of pedagogy, psychology, social work or other related area;
  2. At least 3 years of working experience in one of the following areas:
  • preventing trafficking in human beings and minimizing its social consequences;
  • preventing trafficking in children and child abuse and minimizing its social consequences;
  • developing and implementing educational programs;
  • delivering trainings and seminars on different aspects of preventing trafficking in human beings, minimizing root-causes and social consequences of trafficking in human beings;
  • social work and rendering social assistance to victims of trafficking in human beings;
