Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the ICT Associate, the ICT Support Assistant provides ICT and administrative support services to the ICT unit, provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The ICT Support Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach.
 
The ICT Support Assistant works in close collaboration with the Front Office, Programme and Operations teams in a CO and projects for resolving complex ICT-related issues.
 
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:
  • Support of the CO hardware and software packages
  • Support of the CO networks
  • Provision of administrative support
  • Knowledge building support and knowledge sharing in the CO
  • Provision of email support to the Projects' personnel
  • Provision of IT support to the Projects' personnel
  • Provision of UNDP web sites technical support
Description of main services:
  • Performs specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components and routine repairs;
  • Assists in the installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades;
  • Provides support to users in backing up and restoring their files, as well as in virus detection, removal and prevention;
  • Ensures UNDP Security system technical set-up;
  • Provides with daily consultations to users on IT-related questions;
  • Assists in trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems;
  • Response to user needs and queries regarding network access;
  • Maintains inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the ICT Associate and Procurement Unit;
  • Conducts research and retrieval of data from internal and external sources upon requests; preparation of statistical charts, tables and reports as required;
  • Assists in preparation to key events in the office;
  • Prepares cost-recovery lists for the rendered services;
  • Takes part in the organization of training for the CO staff on ICT issues;
  • User support in learning new techniques and new software
  • Provides daily email support for the Project staff including creation, maintenance and removal of email accounts
  • Completes email lists management;
  • IT equipment procurement process support;
  • Manages Internet connections for the Projects;
  • Provides consultations regarding web sites development and hosting;
  • On-site IT Support for the Projects;
  • Periodical check of web resources allocation and utilization;
  • Provision of the UNDP web sites daily maintenance;

  • Ability to provide basic IT support services;
  • Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, ERP;
  • Ability to perform a variety of standard specialized and non-specialized tasks and work processes that are fully documented, researched, recorded and reported;
  • Ability to review a variety of data, identify and adjust discrepancies, identify and resolve operational problems;
  • Ability to perform work of confidential nature and handle a large volume of work;
  • Some experience in client support, such as, a Help Desk or User Support Unit,
  • Ability to provide input to business processes re-engineering, elaboration and implementation of new systems.
 

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
Special education with preferably specialized training and certification in hardware and software management. University degree in Computer Science would be desirable, but it is not a requirement. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) would be an asset.
 
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience.
 
Language Requirements:
Fluency in Russian, working level of English.
