UNDP Belarus is seeking to further develop and expand its activities in the area of entrepreneurship and business development, especially in the area of eco-tourism. A number of projects are ongoing in this area, and more are planned to follow.
Objective of the assignment:
The objective of this assignment is to ensure effective development and start up of entrepreneurship and eco-tourism activities.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the development of project activities to ensure their design is in accordance with the requirements of the donor, UNDP, government and also in line with UNDP programming procedures;
  • Assume primary responsibility for the daily project development activities   both organizational and substantive matters, including budgeting, planning, etc;
  • Prepare terms of reference for required personnel and subcontractors in line with relevant UNDP procedures;
  • Handle coordination with the government institutions and handle any registration activities and procedures;
  • Develop and maintain contacts and relations with NGOs and other civil society constituencies;
  • The incumbent will be based in Minsk. He/she will work in close cooperation with the UNDP Belarus and the relevant government institutions. The expert is expected to:
  • Organize and supervise workshops and trainings needed;
  • Assess risks and develop project impact indicators;
  • Ensure adequate information flow, discussions and feedback among the various stakeholders of the project;
  • Coordinate activities with other related technical assistance programs in Belarus;
  • Undertake any other actions related to the project as requested by UNDP.

  • Remains calm, in control and good humoured even under pressure;
  • Proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication skills and ability to effectively work with international organizations, donors, NGOs and private sector;
  • Proven ability to manage financial, human and material resources in project contexts;
  • Ability for team work, social competence.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Higher education in economics, environmental management, public administration, law, management, sustainable development; advanced degree or academic training in these areas would be considered an asset;
  • Extensive project implementation experience, with skills in facilitation and coordination development activities, and demonstrated ability to work in an independent manner;
  • Previous experience in the area of eco-tourism, entrepreneurship, and SME development
  • Working experience in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection is highly desirable;
  • Working knowledge of UNDP rules and regulations is an asset;
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience in international project management;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Russian is required.
