Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, the UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States' priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.
The Human Resources Centre is developing and implementing HR policies under the umbrella of UN Rules and Regulations. The Human Resources Associate will be working under the leadership of the Human Resources Specialist (Recruitment Leader) in ensure timely, fair and transparent recruitment process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of key functions:
- Support to outreach activities;
- Administrative and logistical support to recruitment process;
- Assists with ad-hoc recruitment tasks;
- Other duties.
Description of Duties:
Provides support to all outreach activities focusing on achievement of the following results:
- Assistance in the identification and proposal of the mechanisms to attract suitable candidates;
- Contacting selected media, newspapers and magazines covering all regions, for the placement of advertisements as well as preliminary analysis of information on relevant candidates from different channels;
- Monitoring of the on-line application forms, responding to questions and queries related to application procedures;
- Processing the inflow of applications and ensuring the proper entry into the screening process;
- Assistance with data management for several key under-represented countries;
- Update and maintenance of the UN Women website about vacancies in coordination with IT.
Provides administrative and logistical support to the recruitment process focusing on achievement of the following results:
- Preparation of interview documents for screening, interview panels and selection committee;
- Implementation of recruitment processes including assistance with screening of long listed candidates, and supporting interviews, including compiling interview reports for the Recruitment unit;
- Preparation of assessment and interview schedules, written exams, the induction and coordination of the travel arrangements to interview sites;
- Coordinates all travel related activities associated with Induction and Review workshops, such as, visa documentation, DSA calculations, information on hotel accommodations etc.;
- Preparation of submissions to Compliance Review Board (CRB) for recruitment;
- Logistics support to recruitment panels;
- Preparation of draft minutes of meetings and related memorandum and correspondence;
- Provision of information and support to applicants, obtaining all necessary documentation;
- Maintenance and update of files;
- Data search, compilation, provision of the necessary information and reports.
Assists with the logistics ad-hoc recruitment tasks focusing on achievement of the following results:
- Monitoring of the on-line application forms, responding to questions and queries related to application procedures;
- Processing the inflow of applications and ensuring the proper entry into the screening process;
- Update and maintenance of the recruitment website for placement of revised on-line application;
- Preparation of recruitment interview documents for screening, interview panels and selection committee;
- Assist with the preparation of submissions to Compliance Review Board (CRB);
- Assist with the review and formatting of job site vacancy announcements.
Other duties:
- Prepares presentations, briefings and training sessions regarding HR issues as required;
- Performs other duties as required by the HR Specialist;
- Provide support to the Chief-HR for specific assignments.
Impact of Results:
The key results have an impact on the successful execution of the recruitment strategy and in the transparent and objective implementation of HR recruitment policies.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary Education with specialized certification in HR;
- University Degree in HR, Business or Public Administration would be desirable, but it is not a requirement;
- Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT).
Experience:
- 6 years of progressively responsible HR and/or administrative experience is required at the national or international level;
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and experience in handling of web based management systems.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required;
- Fluency in other UN languages an advantage.
