The international consultant, specialist in agricultural sector climate change risk management will work closely with the team of international and national consultants as well as other key stakeholders at the country level and under the leadership of the international consultant specialist of climate change adaptation and GEF/LDCF project and team leader.
Tasks that the international consultant specialist in climate change risk management will be responsible for may include, but not limited to:
- Based on a review of existing regional models, and stakeholder consultations, identify a range of climate change scenarios with particular reference to the agriculture sector, for the project to take into account in its design
- Undertake vulnerability and climate risks assessments for the agricultural sector that are pertinent to inform the project design
- Help determine suitable and concrete agriculture adaptation measures
- Identify required additional investments for climate resilient agriculture sector management that the LDCF project could finance
- Design the project’s policy, institutional and capacity development strategy and action plan;
- Estimate the cost of climate change impacts on the agricultural sector in absence of adaptation
- Help prepare pre-feasibility studies and cost/benefits analysis for agricultural adaptation measures to be supported by the project by carrying out an evaluation of the cost of climate changes impacts on the agricultural sector in absence of the project intervention and an assessment of adaptation option proposed by the project
- Assist in clarifying additionality of proposed outcomes, outputs and activities
- Assist in identifying the risks for the proposed outcomes, outputs and activities including the climate changes risks
- Contribute in the definition of the monitoring and evaluation strategy for the project
These tasks might be complemented by additional tasks if the International Consultant team leader for this project deems it necessary.

Qualifications et expériences requises
Education- Master's degree (or preferably PhD) in Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Environmental Studies or closely related fields. Technical knowledge of Climate Change Risk Management is critical.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive and relevant experience in the field of climate change
- Experience in risk analysis and management
- Experience in scenarios planning and/or development
- Experience in vulnerability and climate risk assessment
- Experience in coastal adaptation and/or disaster risk reduction is an asset
- Experience in working and collaborating with governments is an asset
- Experience working in Comoros is an asset
- Excellent knowledge of English including writing and communication skills
- Good Knowledge of French
