Background

Despite the excellent progress presented by Brazil so far for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as measured by national averages, significant challenges persists when statistics are disaggregated by gender, ethnicity, region showing that an additional effort is needed to guarantee that the MDGS are achieve by all. The project objective is to contribute to turn the MDGs a reality for all the Brazilian citizens, as a minimum human rights agenda. The project strategy is to coordinate and boost the action of partner agencies regarding the MDGs by production of knowledge with disaggregated data on the progress towards MDGs, monitoring of results, permanent advocacy and mobilization at local level, and capacity development for public management, civil society and private sector to implement solutions that lead to the progress in the achievement of the MDGS in their localities.

The Logistics Assistant will work in close collaboration with UNDP Country Office and General Secretariat of the Presidency of Republic as required, supporting events and missions and exchanging information.


Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions: 

- Logistic support to events in general (meetings, seminars and missions) 
- Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing

1. Provides effective logistic support focusing on achievement of the following results: 
- Organization of meetings, conferences, events and workshops; 
- Make travel arrangements; 
- Control emission of air tickets and monitoring cases of cancelation and refunds to the project; 
- Maintain proper control of supporting documents to payments and financial reports; 
- Maintain schedules and calendars; 
- Arrange and confirm appointments; 
- Manage flow of information internally; 
- Support project’s administrative routines when necessary; 
- Perform other related to duties as required.

2. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing, focusing on the performance of the following tasks and achievement of the following results: 

- Participation in the trainings and courses. 
- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Impact of Results
The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency of the project’s strategy on dissemination of MDGs.

Education
Secondary education. University Degree in Human Sciences would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.

Experience
2 years providing relevant logistic support related to the activities described in the TOR;
Experience in the organization of meetings and conferences;
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages;
Experience with ATLAS and handling of web-based management systems is highly desirable;
Previous working experience with the United Nations or any of its initiatives is an asset.

Language Requirements
Fluency in Portuguese. Working knowledge  in English is not required; however is highly desirable.
