Background

Under the supervision of the Head of Public Information Unit and direct guidance of the Public Information Officer, the Video Editor is responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product suitable for broadcasting; the material may consist of camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. The Editor should also provide post-production editing to produce a high quality final product.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant will be engaged by UNDP to carry out missions to film for various content as well as video editing assignments for new coverage to be offered to international media houses to increase outreach.

Scope of work.
Under the direct guidance of the Public Information Officer, the Editor shall:

For field missions:
  • Produce a b-roll
  • Produce a script
  • Provide professional photo equipment to shoot and edit.
For editing:
  • Edit existing footage
  • Edit new footage
  • To ensure that footage is in line with provided script
  • Ensure the footage meets professional standards to be used by UNIfeed and the OCHA websites
Monitoring and Progress controls

The Public Information Officer (PIO) will be with the photographer at all times during the assignment and will constantly monitor the work/performance

The Public Information Officer (PIO) will be in constant communication with the PI unit for follow-up sessions and queries.

Terms of Service

This is a non-staff contract under the Individual Contractor (IC) modality of hiring of the UNDP. Individuals engaged under an IC serve in their individual capacity and not as representative of a government institutions, corporate body or other authority external to UNDP. The incumbent shall not be considered as staff of UNDP, the UN common system or the government and are therefore not entitled to any diplomatic privileges or any other special status or conditions.

Required Skills and Experience

Academic Qualifications:
  • Minimum: Diploma in Journalism, TV and Film production
Experience:
  • 5 years’ experience in TV and film production, editing and script writing
  • Editing and shooting skills, communications abilities, teamwork
Language requirements:
  • English
Other Information

The expert will be required to have professional equipment and a mac laptop with final cut software for editing.
