Background

The goal of the Resource Management Division (RMD) is to support the effective steering and management of the Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR) through strategic and timely information and advice on management of all resources, including financial, human, procurement, logistical, and information technology.

This assignment is open to all qualified external candidates. The assignment is expected to be for a period of 3 months initially.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief (RMD), and in full collaboration with ICT team, the Business Analyst/IT Specialist will perform the following functions:

  • Identify business process improvement opportunities and coordinate the documentation and mapping of user and technical requirements for office automation
  • Develop and maintain applications using Sharepoint, and analytical financial reports using business intelligence tools
  • Provide help desk support to end users

Identify business process improvement opportunities and coordinate the documentation and mapping of user and technical requirements for office automation:

  • Coordinate BCPR business processes definition and documentation, liaising with all teams in BCPR to understand user requirements;
  • Identify business process improvement opportunities;
  • Lead in the documentation and mapping of user and technical requirements for automation.

Develop and maintain applications using Sharepoint, and analytical reports using business intelligence tools:

  • Develop and maintain business tools in Sharepoint;
  • Develop and maintain the technical aspects of BCPR website;
  • Develop and maintain reports using business intelligence tools;
  • Develop and maintain all user guides for all BCPR applications.

Provide help desk support to end users:

  • Provide technical support for BCPR’s business applications and ICT requirements;
  • Ensure full compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures, including for web management.

The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency of BCPR Operations, including improved business results and client services. Forward-looking ICT management has an impact on the organization of office management, knowledge sharing, and information provision.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Analytics, IT or Computer Science or Business Administration (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional work experience with significant project and application system management responsibilities, preferably in the area of finance.
  • Significant work experience with defining business processes and requirements, application development and management using Sharepoint
  • Work experience with internet/intranet using web technologies and proven ability to work with groups of technical and non-technical team members and users
  • Work experience with business intelligence tools

Technical Expertise:

  • Ability to develop applications using Sharepoint
  • Skill set in one or more relevant programming software used for portal development desirable
  • Ability to define user and technical specifications, design automated tools, and understanding of ICT infrastructure and web-based ICT solutions;

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required; working knowledge of other UN official language is an asset.
