Background

The project aims to conduct A Formal Informal Assessment and disseminate it among all stakeholders This assessment’s key objectives are to conduct a political economy and drivers of change analysis of the informal and formal governance structures in Yemen and to explore the prospects for how best these two systems can work together.

The findings and analysis of the study will help inform not only UNDP but also the Government of Yemen, relevant national stakeholders (including the Private Sector), the UNCT, and international partners in their planning, development of strategies, policy and assessments.

This assessment will disaggregate the national level and the local levels of informal and formal governance recognizing the influence of informal governance structures on national politics, policy making, appointments and resource allocation processes.

The National Project coordinator will work under the overall guidance and supervision of programme analyst PA at UNDP. He/She will work in day-to-day management of the project and report to the PA directly.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following activities will be undertaken by the National Project Coordinator for routine management of the project:
  • Overall Project Management;
  • Develop detailed project annual implementation/work plan in consultation with UNDP. In this work plan, the duration of different activities along with designation of responsibilities with specific results for each activity will be specified;
  • Facilitate timely implementation of all activities envisaged under the project;
  • Establish functional linkage with the stakeholders with respect to project activities;
  • Establish network and contacts with UNDP resources in the youth sector and other international sources;
  • Monitor the progress of the project against the work plan and prepare monthly progress reports, annual project reports as set out in the Project Document. This includes both narrative and financial reporting.

Required Skills and Experience

Education: 

  • University degree or equivalent in administration or any related field.

Experience: 

  • 6 years of experience in project coordination and/or development issues and project management.

Language Requirements: 

  • Excellent command of the English and Arabic languages.
