UNDP Office has organized internship programme to provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to UNDP offices, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments as well providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work. The current internship will provide opportunity for student to learn some aspects of finance.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Summary of key responsibilities:

  • Provision of support to the monthly financial reporting and analytical review
  • Administrative support sourcing strategy
  • Analysis of UNDP payment data and targeted approach to migrate to mobile payment solutions system
  • Participation in procurement and implantation processes and liaison with selected country offices.

The intern will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Provision of support to the monthly financial reporting and analytical review
  • Support to the FRM staff in preparation of monthly financial reporting sourced from ATLAS system (PeopleSoft based, developed by Oracle)
  • Support to the FRM staff in conducting analytical review over budget vs actual over financial performances

      2.   Administrative support sourcing strategy

  • Support to the FRM unit in updating service level

  • Timely financial reporting for presentation to management
  • Effective administration support in tracking the billing and staff workload

Qualifications et expériences requises

The following minimum qualifications are required:

Education:

  • The candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited university's Master's or higher degree programme in Finance Management, Accounting, business administration, management or other related field. Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of - or proven interest in the finance and accounting area;
  • Computer literate in standard software applications, especially MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP's Statement of Purpose  and to the ideals of the UN Charter;
  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
  • An interest in global mobility; adaptability to varied physical and other environments; a desire to work with and gain the confidence and respect of people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English - written and spoken is required, Arabic is an asset.

Availability and duration:

  • Part time or full-time for no less than six weeks and no more than six months.

Conditions of the Internship:

  • Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members;
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. The costs associated must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel, accommodation, visa, etc.

Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview must submit prior to the interview, the following documents once contacted by our office:

  • Official letter from the University confirming enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme;
  • Copy of school transcript;
  • Letter of endorsement from a faculty member who has worked with the student in the recent past and who is knowledgeable on the student’s performance;
  • Complete and sign the UNDP Application Form for Internships
  • Copy of the proof of medical and life/accident insurance valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out.
  • Proof of residency (Civil ID/Passport copy).

Financial Issues

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

All costs connected with an intern's participation in the Programme must be borne by : the student or the nominating institution as appropriate.
