Background |
|
| The RIO+ Centre is a legacy of the Rio+20 Conference and its Outcome Document The Future We Want and represents a partnership between the Government of Brazil and UNDP on behalf of the United Nations system. With the mandate of providing a hub for dialogue on ideas and actions that lead to social, environmental, economic justice, RIO+ works with a broad range of people and institutions to create the momentum needed for a transformational approach to sustainable development. As a global Centre based in the south, RIO+ is also committed to identifying policies, practices and perspectives that are rooted in the Global South using these to inform south-south debates and build alliances for change both at the national and international level. Emerging at a time of animated political debates and analysis on how to shift development towards more equitable and sustainable patterns, the RIO+Centre has a valuable opportunity to leverage its Brazilian and UN(DP) identity and mobilize a unique cross section of inputs that can be channeled towards a new global narrative based on the principles of sustainable development. As stated in the UN Secretary Generals recent report to the 68th session of the General Assembly dedicated to post 2015, Sustainable Development βin its integrated and inclusive form β must become the global guiding principle and operational standard to be adhered to in order to ensure social justice and dignity for all. It does this by working towards the following objectives: - Produce and disseminate evidence on policies and practices that are successfully addressing the social, economic and environmental dimensions of equitable development - Trigger broad-based dialogue around action around the development, implementation and monitoring of sustainable human development - Strengthen coalition building and networking for the increased participation and voice of underrepresented institutions, countries and communities in the adoption of equitable development at the national and global level The RIO+ Centre is hiring an executive assistant who will work under the guidance of the Administrative and Programme Associate and direct supervision of both the Director and Deputy Director (Management Team) of the RIO+ Centre. The executive assistant will give support for the effective and efficient functioning of the RIO+ administrative tasks, with full confidentiality in all aspects of assignment, maintenance of protocol procedures, management of information flow and follow-up on deadlines and commitments made. The key results of this function will impact on the overall efficiency of the RIO+ Center and on the success in implementation of its strategies. Accurate analysis, data entry and presentation of information will contribute to proper implementation of the RIO+ strategic planning, knowledge building and sharing.
