Antecedentes
- The Office of the Executive Coordinator (OEC);
- The Evaluation Unit;
- The Corporate Planning and Performance Unit;
- The Volunteer Programme and Management Group (VPMG) comprising the Peace and Development Divisions; Volunteer Recruitment Resources Section (VRRS); Volunteer Knowledge and Innovation Section (VKIS); supported by a Quality Assurance Unit;
- The Partnerships and Communications Division (PCD); and
- The Management Services Division (MSD) comprising sections for Information Support Services, Finance, Human Resources, as well as Units for Common Services and Administration.
Deberes y responsabilidades
The tasks are therefore as following:
- Act as the focal point for the drafting, editing and proofreading the UNV ONY weekly report;
- Prepare a monthly internal newsletter aimed at informing our 150 staff in Bonn and our 7,000+ volunteers in the field about new developments at the UN HQ in NY;
- Develop a calendar of UN special events and conferences from January–June 2014;
- Liaise with UNV’s Communications Section on media and communication activities and explore the potential for action in New York;
- Manage ONY’s UNV portal site and the office share drive;
- Organize UNV promotional materials for ONY;
- Support in the promotion, preparation, and organization of UNV special events at UNHQ;
- Participate in communications related UN meetings;
- Explore possibility of social media engagement for the ONY.
Competencias
- Strong writing skills in English, communication/presentation and negotiation skills;
- Highly organized and independent/motivated;
- Research ability; strategic, analytical and drafting abilities;
- Experience writing or participating in blogs and newsletters;
- Skills to build and maintain relationships with bloggers and key online outlets;
- Knowledge of volunteering issues and their link to social development, an asset.
Habilidades y experiencia requeridas
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s / postgraduate university programme in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, or Development Studies.
Experience:
- Volunteer experience, an asset.
- Experience editing images or preparing graphics for the web and email communications;
- Proficiency in both English and French, is preferred.

The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNV but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
