Antecedentes

The UNDP Regional Centre Cairo and the UNDP election project specifically, following the successful implementation of its 1-day BRIDGE Showcase at the League of Arab States (LAS) located in Cairo, will now host the first of its 2 BRIDGE Workshops for this year. The curriculum will follow a UNDP customized BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy and Electoral Assistance) in Arabic. BRIDGE is a modular professional development program with particular focus on electoral processes, which promotes internationally accepted principles of democracy and good electoral practice. Its partners are the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United National Electoral Assistance Division (UNEAD).

Summary of Key Functions: 
 
The Facilitators will be expected to:
  • Develop a 3-day Agenda for the Workshop;
  • Ensure that the BRIDGE methodology is adhered to in terms of training methods selected, development of learning plan and the Participant Handbook and handouts;
  • Facilitate sessions during the Workshop;
  • Prepare a final report upon completion of the training course;
  • Working with the LAS coordinators, identify modules and possible recommendations of trainers to follow and support the scheduled TTF programme.

Deliverables

A final workshop report within 1 week following the training completion. The report should contain: (i) A summary discussion of the implementation of the assignment; (ii) A summary and analysis of Evaluation Forms completed by the participants; (iii) Modules to cover in the upcoming trainings, and recommendations of persons for the TTF (scheduled for June 2014).

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Education:
  • At least a Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Sociology, Public Administration and Management or other Social Science;
  • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • Not less than 10 years working and training experience related to electoral support and democratic governance
  • Must have BRIDGE Accrediting Facilitator status;
  • Previous experience of running BRIDGE module workshops is an asset;
Language Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Arabic and English is mandatory.
