Under the guidance and supervision of the Facility Analyst, provides support to office operations performing a variety of standard technical processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work.
 
The Technical Assistant (Mechanical) works in close collaboration with the Technical Assistant (Electrical) and other Common Services Staff of the Green One UN House (GOUNH) and technical service providers for the GOUNH. The Mechanical Technical Assistant is expected to perform back-up functions for the colleague responsible for mechanical areas.

The Technical Assistant (Mechanical) promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach.
 

Devoirs et responsabilités

Summary of Key Functions:  
  • Responsible for the daily operation of the integrated mechanical systems including the Building Management System (BMS) software.
  • Responsible for liaison and supervision with service agents and 1st- and 2nd-line service technicians performing preventative and curative maintenance on GOUNH Equipment, Plant, and Systems
  • Responsible for the continuous functioning of the Integrated Security System equipment
  • Support to knowledge building and knowledge sharing
Responsible for the daily operation of the integrated mechanical and electrical systems focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Operations and maintenance of centralized and distributed building equipment systems (including HVAC, UPS, PhotoVoltaic grid) in conjunction with contracted maintenance parties.  Performing regular (daily) inspections of major building equipment, and regular surveys;
  • Control equipment and integrated systems via the BMS to provide indoor climate and configuration according to established set-points, adjusting as necessary to provide continued operation for ad-hoc events outside of pre-programmed schedules;
  • Inspects all workspaces and can include: fluorescent lighting; computerised and analogue monitoring and control systems; security access systems; power distribution; pumps; elevators; control equipment & wiring;
  • Preparations and completion of maintenance schedules & reports, updating the Preventative Maintenance Plan as appropriate;
  • Preparation of requisitions for maintenance supplies, and assists in identifying potential vendors;
  • Performs preventative maintenance work where appropriate or outside of a service contract;
  • Updates building changes using AutoCAD, and following FMU drawing standards.
  • Inspects contractors’ work.
  • Assistance in preparation of plans and specifications for work requirements; provides direction to outside contractors and ensures that construction and repair works are completed; prepares status of work & completed reports.
  • Implementation of an effective preventative maintenance schedule to ensure validity of warranties on plant and equipment, and maximize life-span of installed equipment.
Responsible for liaison and supervision with service agents and 1st- and 2nd-line service technicians performing preventative and curative maintenance on GOUNH Equipment, Plant, and Systems, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Receive, Escort, and Supervise as necessary 1st- and 2nd-line service technicians performing preventative and curative maintenance at the GOUNH site;.
  • Updates building changes using AutoCAD, and following FMU drawing standards to maintain accurate and current As-Built drawings, schedules and building information in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals;
  • Inspects contractors’ work;
  • Assistance  in preparation of plans and specifications for work requirements; provides direction to outside contractors and ensures that construction and repair works are completed; prepares status of work & completed reports;
Responsible for the Integrated Security System equipment, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Integrated Security System equipment. i.e. ensure the Electronic Door Locks, CCTV cameras, PIR detectors etc. are fully operational and the operation of the Integrated Security System and use of this equipment is within Security and Safety Unit.
Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the GOUNH, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Undertake and pass the training for the GOUNH staff on use of facilities and installed systems;
  • Participation in the Commissioning process of installed systems of the GOUNH and establishing operating guidelines and test-reports based on this activity;
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
Impact of Results
  • The key results have an impact on the efficiency of the unit, and the business continuity of the organisation. Accurate presentation of information strengthens the capacity of the office and promotes the image of UN/UNDP as an effective contributor to the development of the country.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Formal vocational (polytechnic) qualification in the field of Heating, Ventilation & Air-Condition
Experience:
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in operating construction tools – both stationary, and portable.
  • Strong skills in using metering and measuring devices.
  • Strong knowledge of computers, to include: AutoCAD (version R14 ideally) and competent with the MS Office suite of applications.
  • Experience in using facility management software (like Honeywell) is an advantage
  • Experience within the Vietnam national building regulations system
Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in English and Vietnamese.
