The Secretariat for the Development Assistance Group (DAG) of donors was established to coordinate donor support to the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) process and, more lately the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is housed in UNDP and provides support to the work of the DAG Technical Working Groups (TWGs), DAG Executive Committee (ExCom) and the DAG through facilitation and follow up on ongoing agenda as well as new initiatives that are launched. The DAG Secretariat also builds partnerships and liaises closely with stakeholders, including Government, civil society, the private sector, the UN and donor agencies. It ensures smooth communication between stakeholders as well as promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations. Finally, the DAG Secretariat manages the DAG Pooled Fund under the overall supervision of the UNDP Resident Representative.

Under the overall guidance of the DAG Secretariat Coordinator to which he/she is assigned, the driver provides driving services to the DAG staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of the RR, office staffs and other high-ranking officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required;
  2. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
  3. Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.;
  4. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle;
  5. Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents;
  6. Ensures utilities related correspondence are prepared and associated papers and documents are filed. Follows-up utilities bills for timely payments;
  7. Ensures incoming mails are sorted and distributed both outside and inside the organization and dispatch outgoing mails;
  8. Ensures that all logistical and administrative tasks with other agencies are handled with care.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:    

  • Secondary Education. Valid Driver’s license.  

Experience:    

  • 4 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.

Language Requirements:    

  • Fluency in the language of the duty station, knowledge of the UN language of the duty station.
