UNDP Indonesia's mission is to be an agent for change in the human and social development of Indonesia. We aim to be a bridge between Indonesia and all donors as well as a trusted partner to all stakeholders. We work in four key areas of development: Governance Reforms, Pro-Poor Policy Reforms, Conflict Prevention and Recovery, and Environment Management, with the overarching aim of reducing poverty in Indonesia. Besides the four priority areas, UNDP Indonesia is also engaged in a variety of crosscutting initiatives focused on HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and information and technology for development.

The Crisis Prevention and Recovery Unit of the United Nations Development Programme in Indonesia will recruit a management consultant with database design skills to develop a detailed system for information storage with easy access.

Under the supervision of the Head of Strategic Planning and Monitoring (SPAM) section of the Crisis Prevention and Recovery Unit of UNDP Indonesia, the IBC will be responsible for the establishment of this functional and user-friendly knowledge reference system using the English-language.

The IBC will therefore design and develop an extensive online and partial hard-copy library system to serve as the CPRU Information Bank.

Devoirs et responsabilités

1. Identify and remedy problems encountered in current CPRU information storage and handling so as to streamline existing practices whilst maintaining standards and accountability at all times.

2. Maintain contact and perform liaison duties with concerned ministries, government offices, NGOs, and UN agencies as part of the Unit’s information access requirements.

3. Develop good working relations and maintain liaison with other UN project staff advising these on CPRU/UNDP information access issues as necessary.

4. Participate in discussions of new or revised procedures and practices, lessons learnt, CPRU information access requirements and procedures.

5. Identify areas of improvement in CPRU information access and develop teaching tools with recommendations and follow-up evaluation.

6. Carry out related duties as required by the Heads of SPAM or CPRU.


During this consultancy the IBC is expected to deliver the following outputs:

a. Easily referenced book publications, CDs, donor reports and other CPRU programme or project documents related to project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as audit and budget oversight functions as necessary.

b. Easily referenced UN policy-oriented research that has been carried out in support of UNDPs key theme areas namely conflict, disaster, environment and governance.

c. Easily referenced CPRU related knowledge or reference material from Workshops, Focus Group Discussions and other relevant sources.

d. Document templates covering the various stages of the UNDP Programming and Project cycle.

e. Easily referenced lessons learned and best practice findings from CPRU activities.

f. Easily referenced CPRU Section and project briefing notes for use by UNDP Senior Management.

g. Easily referenced training and other information materials related to CPRU activities.

h. User guidelines for the rapid accessing of all reference material contained in the CPRU Information Bank.

i. Training modules and diagrammatic aides-memoire covering staff use of the CPRU Information Bank.

j. Recommendations for improved CPRU information dissemination mechanisms and potential revisions for future CPRU Information Bank improvements.

In addition, the IBC is expected to regularly support and advise the Heads of SPAM and CPRU in other related duties as and when required.

The IBC will fully research the potential needs and status of information storage and access in order to tailor their work to achieve the best possible result for CPRU/UNDP.

Qualifications et expériences requises

  • A Master’s degree in Humanities, Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, Librarianship, Accounting or Finance.
  • Five years general administrative or database work. Experience of running simple training sessions considered an advantage.
  • Good English language skills a must and fluency in oral and written English an advantage. Knowledge of an additional UN Language is desirable. Ability to present orally and write clearly and concisely in English.
  • Proficiency in all appropriate current office software applications an advantage. Database design skills a must.
