Background

UNDP Indonesia's mission is to be an agent for change in the human and social development of Indonesia. We aim to be a bridge between Indonesia and all donors as well as a trusted partner to all stakeholders. We work in four key areas of development: Governance Reforms, Pro-Poor Policy Reforms, Conflict Prevention and Recovery, and Environment Management, with the overarching aim of reducing poverty in Indonesia. Besides the four priority areas, UNDP Indonesia is also engaged in a variety of crosscutting initiatives focused on HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and information and technology for development.

I. Organizational Context

The role of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Driver is to assist the UNODC HIV/AIDS Unit or his/her designate in the execution of his/her security responsibilities at the assigned duty station. The Driver will be responsible for driving the UNODC HIV/AIDS Unit, senior visiting UN VIPs, such as USGs and Executive Directors of UN organizations, as required, during day-to-day security and administrative related operations for UNODC Indonesia.
Under the guidance of the Team Assistant (Admin), responsible to the UNODC HIV/AIDS Unit, the Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. As the UNODC Driver, his/her main task includes keeping the UNODC Jakarta vehicles fuelled and maintained, ready at all times for emergency response .  In his role as the Admin Assistant

The professional attainment of these results strengthens the capacity of the office and promotes the image of UN as an effective contributor to the development of the country.


Description of Responsibilities :

 1.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Team Assistant (Administration), the Driver ensures reliable and safe driving services ensuring a high accuracy of work. He/she demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

  • He/she provides driving services to the UNODC HIV/AIDS Unit Advisor UNODC staff when required, including high ranking officials and visitors.
  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs for preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in traffic accidents.

 2. The Driver will also maintain UNODC vehicles in a good condition at all times. He/she must ensure all vehicles are fuelled in order to be ready to be used at all times, and ensure cost-savings through the proper use of the vehicle by accurately maintaining daily vehicle logs and the provision of inputs for preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

3. The Driver will ensure effective general administrative support, focusing on the achievement of the following results:

  • Support UNODC staff in safety and security operations.
  • Support general administrative functions as required, i.e filing of documents, both hard copies and electronic and any other UNODC general administrative functions

Required Skills and Experience

V. Recruitment Qualifications

Education:

  • Secondary education.

Experience:

  • Holds a valid national driving license and more than 5 years of driving experience with a good record.
  • Five years of driving with no infractions or culpable accidents, plus three years experience in driving in support of UN safety and security operations.  Prior experience with the UN system desirable or with an international NGO as acceptable.

Language Requirements:

  • Being fully fluent in Indonesian and functionally fluent in English are mandatory requirements.  English language capacities must remain unaffected during times of stress such as is experienced while involved in emergency situations, and while using communications equipment.
