Antecedentes
The Communications Section enhances communications about the value of volunteerism for peace and development and the contributions of UNV and UN Volunteers. It focuses on clear and effective messaging to increase the visibility and impact of UNV. The team produces and promotes tools (websites, publications, social media content, campaigns, videos, etc.) for corporate identity and to highlight UNV’s support to volunteerism worldwide.
Reporting to the Communications Specialist, the Website Assistant contributes to the smooth and effective implementation of the revamp of www.unv.org and World Volunteer Web, along with the improvement and support of content in all online channels for the organization by supporting the assessment and review of the current online content and helping in the migration of the old content into the new website.
Deberes y responsabilidades
Format and add content to websites and social media platforms:
- Enter up-to-date information and articles on the website;
- Ensure that articles and visuals are formatted correctly in the website;
- Post information to social networking platforms;
- Monitor conversations and comments in social media platforms and keep track of social media analytics;
- Monitor website analytics.
Assist in the implementation of UNV website redesign project (www.unv.org):
- Provide administrative assistance in the website redesign project from procurement to finalization;
- Assist in assessing and reviewing all website content by creating an inventory of web pages;
- Provide administrative support in the creation of a new information architecture;
- Liaise with web designers and provide them with information about agreed deliverables.
Assist in the switch over from the old Content Management System (CMS) to the new one:
- Assist in the migration of all content to the new website;
- Provide technical back-up when switching over from one CMS to another;
- Support testing before the launch of the new website by checking different browsers and identifying missing web pages or dead links.
Provide administrative support in areas related to multimedia, visual asset management and web-based tools (newsletter mailing services, multimedia library, etc):
- Assist in the implementation of a visual asset management system;
- Support the dissemination of the Section’s electronic newsletter;
- Assist in identifying photographers and videographers and support any related procurement processes.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas
Education:
- Secondary education;
- Studies in communications, journalism or a related field is an asset;
- Training in web writing and publishing and experience in visual asset management systems are highly desirable.
Experience:
- Five years of relevant experience in web content publishing;
- Experience in posting items and monitoring conversations in social media platforms;
- Experience using Photoshop, Adobe Premiere or comparable software is a distinct advantage.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English;
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
Other:
- Knowledge of web content management systems, preferably Drupal;
- Proficiency in Windows platforms and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
