Background
In December 2006, UNDP and the Government of Spain signed an agreement to programme €528 million through the UN development system towards key MDG and related development goals. These funds are to be programmed and disbursed within the period 2007-2010.
- The Fund seeks to accelerate progress towards attainment of the MDGs in participating countries by supporting:
- The development and/or application of policies that promise high impact;
- The scaling-up of proven models and approaches; and
- Innovations in development practice.
In so doing, the Fund will focus on the following eight thematic windows for 59 countries:
- Economic Governance
- Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment
- Youth Employment and Migration
- Environment and Climate Change
- Conflict Prevention and Peace-building
- Cultural Diversity and Development
- Children, Nutrition and Food Security
- Private Sector and Development
Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of Internship:
- UNDP is looking to finalize an MDG Achievement Fund access database.
Scope of Work:
Enter all the required information (including: Window, country, Region, Taks Manager, Programme title, Document language, translation required. Concept Note information for first and second round if required: submission deadline, date of submission, approval, budget. Joint Programmes: submission date, dates send to reviewers, reviewer’s comments and name, rating, AA checklist, transmittal memos, fund releases: amounts and dates., reminders and remarks) into the Access database fields for the Window of Environment and Gender:
- Information required is in different excel tables and other documents, all in the Unit shared folder.
- Work in conjunction with the rest of team that is also entering the information into the database
- The outputs are mentioned in the scope of work. The intern should refer to the MDG-F website at www.undp.org/mdgf for information on the Fund.
- MDG-F will provide the information that should appear in database as well as a comprehensive background information of how the fund works in order to facilitate the work of the intern therefore the intern will get a very good understanding of how the funds works and how is progressing.
- A designated MGD-F official will monitor the work of the intern and evaluate it upon completion. The intern will report to the designated MDG-F supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
The following minimum qualifications are required:
- Enrollment in a degree programme in a graduate school (second University degree or higher) in a development-related field such as economics, international relations, sociology, public or business administration, political sciences or environmental studies.
- Excellent written and spoken English, knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
- Completion at least 4 years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution
- Excellent computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications specially Excel and Access).
- Excellent interactive and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
