Background
To provide safety and reception services to UNDP Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide security coverage at the entry points of a UNDP premises and annex buildings (if any) to prevent entry to unauthorized persons and the unauthorized removal of UNDP property;
- Screen all personnel, packages and vehicles (if applicable) entering the premises including clearance through metal detectors and by use of x-ray equipment;
- Full Coordination with guards at the checkpoints at two ends of the Street for access via/ and controlling the hydraulic barriers;
- Stop suspicious bags, packages or persons entering the building and report it immediately to SFP;
- Report immediately to SFP any difficult visitors; restrain persons, or arrogant visitors;
- Handover suspicious persons to the Government guard for necessary measures;
- Report immediately to SFP of any theft, unlocked offices, doors and storage room;
- Provide information and directions to all persons associated with the Agency, including visitors;
- Monitor the CCTV and take prompt actions if a suspicious event occurs, both inside and outside the premise and report immediately to Security Focal Point (SFP). Any malfunctioning of the system must also be reported immediately to SFP;
- Accompany VIP visitors to the Resident Representative and Country Director and their Deputies offices;
- Providing “Visitors’ ID Card” to UNDP visitors and make sure to keep some sort of identity card that belongs to visitors;
- Identify all staff faces and names;
- Conduct exterior, garage, and garden patrols for the purpose of intercepting unauthorized persons attempting to gain entry to the premises;
- Cooperate and liaise with the Governmental guards to prevent unauthorized parking in front of UN offices;
- Coordinate with the local police guards during emergencies and demonstrations;
- Report the arrival of protesters or demos through the chain of command. Secure the main door of the office during demonstrations;
- Maintain a log book for registering UNDP visitors’ names and log staff members time in and time out during weekends and holidays;
- Maintain a Dispatch/ receiving book, record correctly all incoming and outgoing mail;
- Maintain alertness for any potential or actual breach of security and any disturbance or unusual activity;
- Report to the SFP all safety and security related issues and comply the directions of the SFP;
- Assist SFP in real emergencies and during building evacuation drills;
- Ensure all doors secure and lights are off after staff members depart;
- Run a routine check on all offices at least one time during the evening shift and night shift when all staff members are out of the office;
- Act as telephone operator in time of need, especially during silent hours;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Graduation from high school (secondary school) is required.
Experience:
- At least two year of experience in safety and security or reception services is required;
- Candidates with higher educational qualifications with less experience in the safety and security field will be considered;
- Experience with UN Agencies is an asset.
Language:
- Good in oral and written Arabic, basis communication capabilities in English is required.
Other requirements:
- Applicants should be between 22 to 35 years of age;
- All duties are performed generally in uniform;
- Able candidates might be selected to discharge duties as shift leader or supervisor.
