Background

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) internship programme offers an outstanding graduate-level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP's work with the objective of deepening his/her knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles and activities. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various professional aspects. Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

 Objective of the internship: Intern assignment is an opportunity to learn through experience and develop relevant professional and soft skills. It will provide young specialist with a way to meaningfully contribute to peace and sustainable human development results.

Organizational Context: Under the overall guidance of the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Intern provides overall support services to the Procurement Unit, ensuring high quality and timeliness of work, ensures accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery.


Duties and Responsibilities

Functions / Key Results Expected:

Provides effective support to the Procurement Unit focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Support in maintaining proper filing system
  • Support in archiving and documentation preparation
  • Implementation of electronic storage system (e-archiving)
  • Organizational support in operations processes
  • Market research activities: support in expanding vendor rosters and assisting in sourcing strategies development and implementation
  • Other administrative support to Procurement Unit

Impact of Results:

The key results have an impact on the execution of the CO Operations services in terms of quality and accuracy of work completed.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Students enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school at the time of application and during the internship; or have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree, if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages.

Experience:

Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.). Experience in handling of web-based management systems.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in Ukrainian, English and Russian
