Background

Under the guidance and supervision of the Administrative Officer and the Snr. Administrative Associate, the Cleaner provides reliable cleaning and building maintenance services ensuring high accuracy of work. The cleaner demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

The Cleaner provides its services in the UNOCHA premises. Cleaning standards will be measured by focal for the building and checklists for cleaning.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Provision of reliable and secure cleaning services
  • Proper use of office cleaning material
  • Day-to-day maintenance of office furniture and minor building
  • Availability of documents/ supplies

 Responsibilities:

  • Proper cleaning and mopping of the office floors and stairs
  • Cleaning/dusting of the Office Furniture and Equipment
  • Cleaning washrooms, and keep clean, refill toilet paper, and towel paper
  • Dusting tables
  • A Spray of "Air Freshener
  • Replacement of empty bottles of Drinking Water
  • Movement of the Office Furniture and Equipment from within the building to outside locations, as required.
  • Repair and maintenance of the electrical faults, i.e. replacement of fluorescent lights, power points/bulbs, etc.
  • Empty all waste paper baskets and other trash containers once a day
  • Remove all trash from floors to the designated trash areas.
  • Fumigation if required
  • Cobweb removal
  • Remove fingerprints, dirt smudges, etc., from all door frames, light switches
  • Hanging of frames/pictures and posters
  • Provide any assistance during working hours required by the management.
  • Paint touch-up jobs.
  • Supporting in procuring minor supplies for the kitchen/maintenance
  • Being available for serving tea and coffee
  • Outdoor areas of the premises to keep clean from dirt, dust, and trash
  • Irrigating green areas
  • Cleaning smoking areas and ash trays
  • Work should be performed on a rotational basis within the team of cleaners
  • Any other related work for the office support

  • Ability to perform a variety of repetitive and routine tasks and duties
  • Ability to review data, identify and adjust discrepancies
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work possibly under time constraints
  • Adequate knowledge of cleaning and building maintenance
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities
  • Demonstrates excellent client orientation

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

 Primary Education

Experience:

 2 years’ work experience as a messenger, cleaner or related.

Language Requirements:

 Fluency in Turkish and knowledge of English is an Advantage
