Background

Under the direct supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, the Consultant to Provide Technical Support will offer consultancy services and support in projects and initiatives involving research, advocacy, dialogue, and capacity-building in thematic areas like social and economic development, SDG’s, regional cooperation & integration and international affairs.

The consultant will work in close collaboration with programme and operations teams of the agencies, UNDG staff, technical advisors and experts, and supports the office functions to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

offers focused consultancy services and technical support in projects and initiatives involving research, advocacy, dialogue, and capacity-building in thematic areas like social and economic development, SDG’s, regional cooperation & integration, international affairs etc.,
Provide technical support for selected projects and assignments,
Provide technical advice on the evaluation and effectiveness of selected undertaken activities and projects,
Provide assist in preparing studies, technical and academic documentation, proposals,
Provide assist in preparing project documents,
Provide assistance for the capacity building for the undertaken projects.

Competencies

To have a competent technical and academic skills in development fields and project management expertise specializing on result oriented project implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation, outcome mapping, knowledge management, and outreach & dissemination.

Required Skills and Experience

Knowledge of development ecosystem in Bahrain, preferably working for governmental and/or private sector top positions,
More than 20 years of working experiences, at least 10 years in top management positions,
PhD or relevant qualification from an internationally renowned University
Track record of technical support to international organizations
Relevant publications in International peer reviewed journals
Experience in designing social and economic development policies and programs
Experience in contributing to global thought leadership in social innovation, MDG’s and SDG’s
