Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development recognized that there can be no gender equality without investment. The Agenda reiterated the need for gender mainstreaming, including through targeted actions and investments in the formulation and implementation of all financial, economic, environmental and social policies.

In recognition of the need of transformational financing to achieve SDGs, especially Goal 5, the Strategic Partnership Division seeks additional help to support its outreach to the Private Sector.
