Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Communications Analyst, the Communications Intern supports the implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies of the office to increase the standing and awareness of UNDP with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Intern promotes a client-oriented approach in UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Support in the preparation of project briefs, project documents, Country Office documents and press releases etc.
  • Support the communications team in organizing events, media briefings, enhancing media relations, keeping track of press articles.
  • Actively liaise with all Country Office Programmes and projects.
  • Support to provision of logistical and administrative support to unit activities.

Impact of Results:

The key results should have an impact on the overall efficiency of UNDP’s advocacy efforts.

  • Ability to draft concise and informative documentation in English for a range of uses from detailed progress reports to media releases.

  • Desire to learn new creative skills for developing video blogs and using social media effectively. Uses Information Technology effectively as a tool and resource.

Required Skills and Experience

Education : The candidate should be enrolled in a Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Media Sciences, Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a related discipline.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Urdu required.  

Academic Requirements: Minimum CGPA of 3.0

  2. Proof of life/accident insurance of the intern for the location(s) in which the internship will be carried out. (For the duration of the internship)
